What will and won't protect you...

Handgun
In the prologue, given by Cybil in a cafe. You can take a firing stance or fire while moving. Can be fired rapidly, but power is rather weak. 1 clip contains 15 rounds (default setting).
Shot Gun
Found in the most inner cubicle of the men's Restroom on the second floor of the elementary school of the alternate world. You can move and take a firing stance while moving. It is inferior for rapid firing. Its power is maximized when close-up.
Hunting Rifle
Found in at a window of a gun shop, in the area where you fight Twinfeeler, on the first floor of a downtown shopping mall of the alternate world. You can move and take a firing stance while moving. No good for rapid firing, but the power is great.
Cooking Knife
On a counter of a cafe in the prologue. You can take striking stance and strike while moving. Pushing the circle button continuously produces a thrust attack, but the power is rather weak.
Iron Pipe
At the end of a downtown cul-de-sac where Cheryl disappeared. You can take an attacking stance while moving. Pushing the circle button continuously swings the pipe up and down, but the power is rather weak.
Hammer
In the generator room of the hospital basement of the alternate world. You cannot take an attacking stance while moving. Pushing the circle button continuously swings the hammer up and down. The power is great.
Hand Axe
In a hidden church in the back of the antique shop. You can take an attacking stance while moving. Pushing the circle button continuously swings the hand axe up and down, and the power is moderate.
Chain Saw
After the second play, at the Saw shop downtown. Needs gas. You can take an attacking stance while moving. Pushing the circle button continuously swings the chain saw up and down. It can be used for attacking whether or not the engine is running. Power is great.
Small Rock Drill
After the second play, on the 1st floor of the Orridge bridge control tower. Needs gas. You can take an attacking stance while moving. Pushing the circle button continuously swings the Small Rock Drill up and down. It can be used for attacking whether or not the engine is running. Power is great.
Japanese Sword (katana)
After the 3rd play, in the Japanese room of a private downtown residence that has a doghouse. You can take an attacking stance while moving. Pushing the circle button continuously swings the Japanese Sword (katana) up and down. Power is great.
Hyper Blaster
After seeing the 5th ending, it is on your hand at the starting. You can take an attacking stance while moving. It fires rapidly. Depending on the color of the scope mark, the power maximizes. Rounds are unlimited.
